September Fine Choice for Brass and Voice

Newstead Brass are offering choice in September with two different ways of enjoying the combined sounds of Brass and Voice either as a participant or listener.

September Fine Choice for Brass and Voice

Sing with the band as they accompany hymns for a ‘Songs of Praise’ style service in Kirkby in Ashfield on Sunday September 15th and hear enjoy over 100 Male Voices with the band in ‘Every Man was Singing’ at the Nottingham Albert Hall on Saturday September 28th. .

There is something special about the sound of a brass band playing hymns and we are delighted to have been invited to accompany the hymns for a special evening at one of our local anglican churches. St Wilfrids in Kirkby on Sunday September 15th at 6 pm. Admission is free with a collection being taken for Rotary International charities.

Every Man was Singing marks the centenary of the Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir with the hosts joined by Mansfield and District Male Voice Choir and Pye Hill and District Male Voice Choir to form a choir of a hundred voices at Nottingham Albert Hall on Saturday September 28th at 7.30 pm.  There will be items by Newstead Brass, the individual and combined choirs and for band and choirs together.  Tickets (£15) can be purchased by calling the box office on 0115 876 2970 or online www.trybooking.com or on the door (cash only).

A band spokesman commented, “The band were delighted to be asked to both these upcoming events. Hymn playing is a great tradition in brass bands and there are some fine settings of modern and traditional hymns which we look forward to playing in the lovely setting of St. Wifrids Church.  It’s also great to celebrate our joint mining heritage with Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir and demonstrate how we’re making that history of music making relevant to the twenty-first century.”
