Folk Focus for Newstead Brass and Malin Hill as we Blow Away the Winter Blues
Posted on Feb 06, 2019 by Mike Allcock
There’s a folk music focus (folk-us?) as Newstead Brass and folk duo Malin Hill join forces for “Blow Away the Winter Blues” at Papplewick & Linby Village Hall this Sunday, February 10th, at 7.00 pm.

Folk tune inspired music from around the UK will be featured in Newstead Brass programme which will also reprise elements from their performance at the 2018 Bolsover Festival of Brass in which they were the highest placed midlands band alongside chart music by Tears for Fears and Billy Joel and selections from the Swing Era of Glenn Miller and others.
Nottinghamshire based English Folk Duo Malin Hill will complement the band’s programme with their own mixture of folk inspired traditional, modern and original songs with an indie edge.
Standard admission price is £6 per person and tickets can be reserved at www.ticketsource.co.uk/newstead-brass-band or by calling 0115 9680563.
A band spokesman explained, “This is a new venture for Newstead Brass as we’ve, surprisingly, never played at Papplewick & Linby Village Hall. It looks like an excellent place to visit. Local people are always complimentary about our performances each year for Hucknall Remembrance Parade and enjoyed our Christmas carols at Hucknall Tesco in early December so I hope they’ll take this opportunity to come and enjoy a concert of popular music from the band and our guests Malin Hill”.
