Musical Director: Duncan A Beckley

The Newstead Welfare Band Organisation aims to provide opportunities for brass and percussion players from across the north-east midlands region to rehearse and perform together to improve their musical abilities and entertain the community.

Newstead Brass appears at venues throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, the East Midlands and beyond and claim to be one of the most versatile groups around.  As well as large and small concerts the bands are also available for weddings, community events, religious festivals and corporate entertainment.. Please contact the band manager to discuss your needs.

A thriving training group meets each week and occasionally joins with Newstead Brass to give the young and developing players experience of playing in front of an audience.

Across the two groups over 60 amateur musicians are involved, completing over 40 engagements a year, often in support of local and national charities.  The band has completed successful trips to Ronchin, near Lille, in Northern France as part of the twinning agreement with Kirkby-in-Ashfield and a return visit was hosted in 2005.
